Firefly $139 Gibson ES-335 Style Guitar(Amazon) – Demo / Review

[Music] hey guys so a few weeks ago I uploaded a test clip where I was playing on a really affordable semi hollow body guitar that I got off of Amazon there was a great response to that video so today we’re gonna check it out so this is the Firefly semi hollow body guitar that I bought off of amazon.com a few weeks ago for about a hundred and forty dollars now of course this guitar is based off of the Gibson es-335 and it’s a semi hollow body guitar so of course we’ve got the F holes here where it’s open on the sides but the main middle body of the guitar has wood running all the way through it this is just a great-looking guitar so for the price even if you got it just for how it looks with the idea of upgrading it later on you’d be fine going that route but I think as we go over the specs of this guitar you’ll be as impressed as I was with the overall value first of all the thing that really impresses me is this is a set neck guitar most guitars in this price range are going to be bolt ons we’ve got a lot of nice little upgrades like there’s a 5 ply binding all the way around the body a bound fretboard and even the logo is pretty cool the F in Firefly is shaped like a guitar headstock we’ve got a standard Gibson control layout with two tones and two volume knobs and a 3-way toggle switch for pickups we’ve got the traditional double humbucker setup and we’ve got 22 frets on a rosewood fretboard on a maple neck this guitar is also a really nice weight it’s not too heavy but it feels solid and it balances very well also as if the value of the guitar alone wasn’t enough it comes with some nice accessories like a ten-foot braided guitar cable not one of these cheap thin ones that typically come with cheap guitars and also a guitar strap and a pick holder and some picks okay now those are all the specs but as good as this guitar looks let’s check out how it plays and sounds [Music] [Music] back [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] okay so I have to say I was really impressed with the tone and the playability of this guitar right out of the box the action was really pretty good and of course they give you some allen wrenches if you want to adjust the truss rod or the bridge now I do want to mention that there are a few sharp fret ends on this guitar but where they are on the guitar tends to be closer to the neck pick up really high up here so you don’t really feel it much most of the frets in the main part of the neck are finished really nicely there are also a few minor imperfections in the finish like there’s one right here on the back of the neck but honestly these are so small I can’t even really show you them effectively in the video now I love the transparent red finish on this guitar but you can get it in a few other colors of black a transparent blue and a sunburst alright so now let me ask you what do you guys think of hollow body or semi hollow body electric guitars when I was playing it I found that this guitar was surprisingly versatile and you can play a lot more on it than just blues but would it look weird to play heavy metal with this guitar what do you think as always share your thoughts below in the comments section I love reading them alright guys thanks a lot for watching if you enjoyed this video please like and subscribe and stay tuned for more videos I’ve got a lot more coming up soon you
