although Huckel on the ground and welcome to the 100th episode of u k– minutes for 100th episode of u k– minutes we’re gonna give you the rundown on what to do if you’re a brand new you player and you just got a brand new cool LA so let’s open it out of the box so usually you’re cool all that comes slack down which means tuned down so that the strings aren’t too tight so now what we’re gonna do is we’re going to tune our cool le now the standard tuning for ukulele is g c e a place are tuned at the top the top string should be two into a g the next string should be tuned to a C next string should be an e last but not least the bottom string should be an A now since your Aquila is new check back often to see if your strings are in tune you might want to keep tuning it up because your strings are still trying to get used to your new equal le now the tribute call is all tuned up let’s learn how to strum first you’re gonna take your left hand place it over the fret board so that we don’t worry about our left hand doing any cords or anything fancy like that take our right hand now with your open palm place it over the sound hole and what you’re gonna do is with your pointer finger you’re gonna point to yourself like so now you’re gonna twist your wrist and point to the ground point to yourself point to the ground point to yourself point to the ground now you want to take this same motion and place it over your strings just slightly so point to yourself when you point to the ground that’s called a Down strum point to yourself isn’t up strum point to the ground down strum point to yourself isn’t up strum down up down up down up now let’s learn some chords the first chord that we’re gonna learn is a C chord you’re gonna take your ring finger place it on the bottom string 3rd fret now let’s try that with our strum down up down up down up down 1 2 3 go down up down up down up down up down up down now the next score that we’re gonna learn is an F chord you’re gonna take your middle finger place it on the top string second fret pointer finger on the E string first fret one two three go down up down up down up down up down now last but not least a g7 chord we’re gonna take our middle finger again we’re gonna place it on the C string second fret point a finger on the E string first fret and your ring finger on the bottom string second fret so what you want to do is want to take your wrist for this chord you want to swing it to your left one two three go down up down up down up down so what you want to do is you want to practice switching from one chord to the next so you might want to practice switching from your C to your F 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 F 1 2 3 4 back to C 1 2 3 let’s try this out with our F and G 7 1 2 3 go 1 2 3 4 g7 1 2 3 4 back to F 1 2 3 alright guys so that was it everything you need to know on how to play ukulele right out of the box if you guys want more lessons check out Luke along the ground comm we have lessons every month we also have uke minutes every week which shows you different techniques and styles if you want a little bit more organized bucola learning experience you guys can check out ukulele underground university so this is all drink around from cool on the ground calm enjoy your cool Allah and Allah
